Computers Without Soundcards

While most users will have a soundcard present, it is possible to run both the server and the clients on computers without sound cards.

Wherever the server runs, it requires a device to draw data from it. ALSA provides a dummy driver which mimics /dev/dsp, but produces no sound. User running in this mode will most likely add a recording output so that audio data can be saved to disk or sent to icecast server.
